so it seems the master boot record for my hard drive somehow got corrupted/hacked/idon'tknow
but now i can't boot windows unless i have my xp cd in my dvd drive
i've tried the recovery tool on the cd, scoured the web for all sorts of electronic tricks and voodoo magic, been on the phone for hours with my relatively tech minded friend, even tried putting a few new installs on the drive, all to no avail
i am becoming more inclined to believe that my hd, which is pretty old now, is dying
but with my no job status, acquiring a new one through legal go to the store and buy one means isn't exactly feasible, as i have little money to spare, and that's already going to pay for my various bills/gas to keep my car running this month
so i will refer you to my topic

i suppose i should give up on this stupid computer for a while and get some sleep

so i got a free pass from higgins to see a sneak preview of when in rome tonight
i had no idea what it was about, but thanks to the wonderous invention that is google, i soon found out that it's a romantic comedy about blah blah blah whatever it's a free movie so why not go
so i get to the century theaters, which i remember from my youth to be quite a popular, but now is all but dead, and who should i see waiting there for the same movie but my ex krystle
things ended relatively amicably between us, so we chatted it up for a bit, waited for her friend to show up
it was nice catching up
we even sat next to each other during the movie and made snarky comments at all the silly sappy parts
as for the movie, it wasn't too horrendous
i can at least say it's better than blues brothers 2000, which is my low bar for movies i've seen in theaters :P
i even laughed at some points
i know, me, laughing and not loathing existence, what a terrible concept to behold
anyways, after the movie, as i drive on home, i notice i'm being followed as i draw near my house
it seems krystle wanted to get my number, says we should keep in touch and hang out some time
it's not like my number is terribly difficult to remember
oh well, i suppose i should go try to be unawake soon

so i was talking to higgins today, and he made the comment after spounting a few of my past colloquialisms in a string, "what ever happened to the jeff of 99?"
and what the fuck ever did happen to that guy? he was loud and brash, confident, spouting whatever came to mind. i suppose he was also sounded like an idiot a lot of the time. but he did with confidence and total disregard for what others would think of him
not that i don't sound like an idiot most of the time when i open my mouth now :P
but still, it would be nice to have a bit of that self assuredness back
have a lil swagger in my step again
i'm sure this legthy unemployment isn't helping my disposition much

how've you all been?
it's been a while since we've talked
yeah...
i'd like to say i've been engaging in worthwhile endeavors
but that'd prolly be a lie on lots of levels
since being economy fired in february, i've been trying to find gainful employment, without any success
i expected as much, with the way things had been going for the year leading up to being laid off
just a glut in this area of overqualified individuals for not enough jobs
so we'll just go with i still exist
for some unapparent reason
man this waiting for the sun's outer layer to explode and char the earth's surface to a barren wasteland is getting kinda boring, but gotta keep a stiff upper lip, hopefully only a couple billion years to go

I was only 1 year old when he was brutally murdered this evening 28 years ago, so I had no comprehension as to the horrific event that unfolded that day. but I was instilled with a love for the man's music by my father, who would play his band's music, as well as many others that would be deemed today as "classic rock" in countless car rides and on the home stereo as I grew up. he was a wonderful musician. a man who strove to bring a little more harmony and peace to the us all with his music. I believe the world is a darker place without his presence. I am sure he is missed by anyone who knew him or that heard and was touched by his music.
so here's to you john. if there's more after death than my apathetic athiest view, than I hope you're somewhere good and happy, jamming with george. hope you don't mind waiting a while for the other two. we still need em.

and i suppose i could be "thankful" that the money i had been trying to save is now recirculating in the economy

well, it seems i am gonna have a tooth in my face worth more than my car
i made an appointment today for the crown, and all told it's gonna cost about 1400 dollars
so that with the cost of the root canal drained just about everything in my bank account

good thing i had actually been trying to save money for a while
too bad i can't spend it on anything i would have wanted to

so i went and got my root canal done this morning
and since it's one of my front teeth, i'm apparently not supposed to really use it to bite into anything till at least the temporary crown is put on in a week or so, or else there is a chance the tooth will split
according to the dentist guy
so, the one holiday coming right up that venerates eating, that lauds biting into things, that worships food and the consumption of it, i can not properly take part in
i tried eating pizza today, and i had to take baby bites of it from the side of my mouth, i'm sure i looked pretty pathetic :P

apparently the antibiotics and anti inflammitory pills the dentist prescribed have the possible side affects of vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation, as well as other random stuff like dizziness and lightheadedness and drowsiness
i just hope i don't have to end up sitting on the toilet with me leaning over to vomit in the sink

I go in expecting dude mcdentistguy to drill wantonly at my face today, and he's all pissy saying "you have an infection in your root area and I'm too much of a pussy to drill on you till you take some antibiotics, come back next week, here, let me scribble randomly on this piece of paper"
so I gotta deal with this pain for another week
and it's gonna cost even more than I thought, apparently 1k is just for the root canal guy, I gotta go back to the other dentist to get first a temporary crown, then wait another few weeks for a permenant crown to be molded, or something, then have that slapped haphazardly on
plus the cost of whatever these antibiotics I'm waiting to purchase at walgreens

why the fuck don't we have socialized medicine yet? aren't we like the only "1st world" nation without socialized medicine? why did my parent have to be americans? I think I could have made a good swede or englandite

a constant ache in your face that started on tuesday
apparently the root of the tooth i injured when i tripped and fell on my face when i was 13 is finally dying
i went to the dentist today, and after an exam and an x ray, he said that the root is rotting out and i gotta get a root canal and have a crown put on my tooth
i don't have insurance
so when i called the specialist he referred me to to get the canal and crown, they were quite chipper when they told me it was gonna cost me 1k
i wasn't though
it's the chance i took not getting the crappy insurance through work
although my paycheck would pretty much be cut in half if i were on the crappy insurance through work
so i'm actually ahead if you look at it that i've been with the company almost 2 years
i have enough money in the bank, i was just hoping to actually save money for a while

i hate awake
